Lanner Introduces Next-Gen Network Security Appliances and Compute Blades Powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor

TAIPEI, Taiwan, Jan. 11th, 2023 -- Lanner has announced the release of the NCA-6530, a 2U 19” rackmount network security appliance, and HMB-6130, a compute blade for Lanner HTCA-series. Both computing platforms support the dual-socket of 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor, featuring a built-in accelerator for higher throughputs, advanced hardware-enabled security, and exceptional NIC module expansion.

Powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 2x PCIe bandwidth improvement from PCIe 5.0, and 1.5x memory capacity from DDR5, NCA-6530 and HMB-6130 feature powerful networking processing capability and higher throughput. “The 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors will deliver enhanced performance for network security and virtualization workloads through increased throughputs, higher memory bandwidth, and faster input/output,” said Jeans Tseng, Chief Technology Officer at Lanner Electronics. “With  4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, Lanner network appliances can offer up to 95% higher vSwitch throughput and 37% latency reduction for large packet sequential read and achieve significantly faster speeds to support edge networking applications, such as NGFW, IPS/IDS, DPI, vRAN, Content Delivery.”

The integrated Intel QuickAssist technology, a hardware technology that accelerates critical workloads such as data compression and cryptography, now utilizes up to 47% fewer cores to achieve the same connections/per second. Additionally, Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) offers hardware-based memory encryption for isolating specific application code and data in memory.

The NCA-6530 is equipped with 8 NIC module slots, capable of delivering almost any networking interface and I/O configuration. The purpose-built modular kits were developed to optimize for a broad selection of expansion requirements, including 1/10/25/40/100G copper/fiber interface, NVMe SSD storage, 4K video transcoding, and Wi-Fi/LTE connectivity.

In terms of product specification, NCA-6530 accommodates up to twenty-four 288-pin DDR5 R-DIMM at 4800 MHz, providing up to 1536GB of system memory. Other notable features include 2x HDD/SSD drive bays, 1600/2000W 1+1 ATX redundant powers, 2x PCI-E *16 expansion slots, 3x M.2 expansion slots, and 6x individual hot-swappable smart fans.

Compatible with HTCA-6000 series appliance, the HMB-6130 accommodates up to 16x 288-pin DDR5 R-DIMM/LRDIMM at 4800MHz, providing up to 1024GB of system memory. Other notable features include 2x Intel Ethernet 800 Series Controllers that support 4x 100G KR4-enabled front switch blades.
