Scaleway Makes Block Storage Available in its Warsaw Datacenter

PARIS, Dec. 16, 2020 -- Scaleway, a fast-growing European public cloud services provider, continues to strengthen its public cloud offerings available in its Warsaw datacenter (pl-waw-1) to support growing demand in Central and Eastern Europe. The availability of Block Storage in pl-waw-1 marks a new milestone for users who will be able to host latency-critical applications and benefit from high redundancy in this region.

Since launching pl-waw-1 in Warsaw in September with instances and object storage, Scaleway has been committed to rapidly providing all the standard services of its public cloud ecosystem to the CEE region. Block Storage is now available alongside managed databases, Container Registry and Load Balancer already on offer in Warsaw. Kapsule, Scaleway’s managed Kubernetes offering popular among the developer community, will be the next product launched in this region.

Block Storage meets the need for ultra-secure, low-latency, high-volume storage

Companies, organizations and startups require high-performance and reliable solutions for their Big Data and Data Analytics projects, and for critical applications which are extremely demanding in terms of storage and IOPS. This is why Scaleway has chosen to use full SSD disks which guarantee 5,000 IOPS and flexible volumes. At any time, the storage space allocated to an instance is hot swappable through resizing or adding new Block Storage volumes. A virtual instance can attach up to 15 volumes with a maximum size of 10TB. Block Storage also comes with a 99.99% SLA - data is replicated 3 times to ensure integrity. The volumes are therefore highly available, accessible under all circumstances.

A complete European alternative that makes sense

Scaleway enables its clients to control their own infrastructures, platforms and data. The provider offers customers digital sovereignty and favors openness and transparency. At pl-waw-1, as in its other availability zones, Scaleway offers generic and compatible products that enable multi-cloud architectures using standard technologies.

By positioning its strong offering on the Polish market before all other dominant cloud providers, Scaleway is the only supplier in the region to offer developers and enterprise customers a set of GDPR-compliant, reliable, innovative, flexible and fairly-priced public cloud products.
