Supermicro Sets New STAC-A2 World Speed Record

CHICAGO, Ill., Nov. 3 -- Super Micro Computer, Inc., a global leader in high-performance, high-efficiency server, storage technology and green computing, announces its SYS-1028GR-TR supporting dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2697 v3 (Haswell EP) 14-core at 2.6GHz and dual Intel Xeon Phi 7120P (Knights Corner) coprocessors has set the new STAC-A2 World Speed Record. The 1U high density form factor SYS-1028GR-TR is optimized for high performance computing applications with support for dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 and up to 3x Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. It has achieved world record benchmark results, showing the solution's ability to accelerate computation time for financial risk calculations. The STAC Report of these benchmark results is available at https://stacresearch.com/INTC151028.

"Supermicro's 1U SuperServer optimized for Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors is fine tuned to achieve the highest performance in its class and the STAC-A2 world record benchmark is an independent result that highlights our solution's capability," said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro. "For applications in need of lowest-latency or highest density for parallel processing, our Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 based Green Computing servers are exactly optimized to maximize performance with highest energy efficiency."

"Intel's collaboration with Supermicro has once again set a new STAC-A2 World Speed Record benchmark using Supermicro's 1U compute-dense form factor based on the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family and Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors," said Hugo Saleh, director of HPC Marketing and Industry Development, Intel Enterprise and High Performance Computing Platform Group. "Financial services developers are able to address the most demanding workloads in computational finance and algorithmic trading using open standards based programming techniques and the rich features of Intel Parallel Studio XE 2015, ensuring the long term viability of their codes on future servers and workstations."
