HPE Announces Fastweb’s Adoption of GreenLake Platform for Modernizing its Fastcloud Business Unit

MILAN, July 7, 2023 – Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced that Fastweb, one of the leading telecom operators in Italy, has selected the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform, the market-leading cloud services platform from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), to modernize its Fastcloud Business Unit to accelerate new service deployment and improve agility. The new platform also enhances governance, security, and operations with improved visibility of utilization and costs.

Fastweb has 3.1 million customers on fixed network and 3 million on mobile network. Its business unit, Fastcloud, provides cloud solutions for enterprises and government departments, ranging from infrastructure as a service (IaaS) to software as a service (SaaS), including artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics and internet of things (IoT). Its Fastcloud Business Unit was looking to modernize its technology environment to enable faster service deployments for its cloud service portfolio but wanted to avoid costly overprovisioning, and thus also minimize the resources required for power and cooling.

HPE has found that customers transitioning to HPE GreenLake from traditional CapEx models can achieve a greater than 30% reduction in energy costs and total cost of ownership over 5 years.

“HPE GreenLake provides a platform that allows us to deliver innovative cloud services to our customers that can help them grow their businesses and become more competitive in their markets,” said Domenico Impellicceri, Fastcloud Director, Fastweb. “With this solution we gain better insights into capacity utilization and energy consumption, so we can prevent overprovisioning and better manage our costs and carbon footprint which is critical for our business.”

“We are proud that Fastweb has chosen HPE GreenLake as their strategic partner for their cloud journey,” said Mauro Colombo, Director, Technology and Innovation, Italy at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “HPE GreenLake is a unique platform that enables customers to consume IT resources as a service across their entire infrastructure - from edge to cloud - with consistent performance, governance and compliance. This way, Fastweb can focus on added value services for their customers while we provide IT cloud services.”

In this case for our work with Fastweb, we have delivered the solution with the collaboration of Npo Sistemi , an Italian company specialized in IT solutions and services, is an authorized partner of HPE for delivering HPE GreenLake services.

“NPO Sistemi has been collaborating with Fastweb for many years on various projects related to cloud computing and data center optimization,” said Stefano Lombardi, Marketing Director at Npo Sistemi, a Ricoh Company. “We are honored that they have entrusted us once again with this important project that leverages our expertise in delivering HPE GreenLake services. We are confident that this solution will bring great benefits both for Fastweb and for their customers.”
