ExtraHop Releases EH9100 Appliance

ExtraHop today announced the release of the EH9100, an appliance that delivers real-time wire data analysis at a sustained 40Gbps. In addition to industry-first throughput speeds, the EH9100 boasts the industry’s most compelling price-performance ratio, delivering more than four times the performance at one-fifth the cost of comparable offerings.

According to a recent survey by Enterprise Management Associates, nearly 65 percent of respondents have already deployed 10Gb or 40Gb Ethernet switches in their data centers. Moreover, 60 percent of respondents said that they plan to deploy 40Gb or 100Gb switches in their data center within the next 12 months.

“40GbE is starting to gain traction as enterprises look to scale up for the broad implementation of hybrid IT. Unfortunately, packet capture-based monitoring technologies are far behind this curve, ” said Shamus McGillicuddy, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Management Associates. “With the EH9100, ExtraHop has positioned itself as the clear leader in monitoring for hyper-scale, giving operations teams the real-time analytics capacity they need to manage explosive data center traffic growth and extract maximum value from that data.”

With the ExtraHop EH9100, enterprises have speed and capacity they need to derive IT and business insights from data at scale. Key capabilities of the EH9100 include:

  • Instantaneous insight delivered by real-time wire data analysis at a sustained 40Gbps – the equivalent of approximately 422 terabytes per day.
  • The ability to analyze up to 4 million packets per second, and then transform those packets into structured wire data using the ExtraHop real-time stream processor.
  • SSL traffic analysis at a sustained bulk decryption rate of 40Gbps with the capability to process 64,000 handshakes/second with 2048-bit RSA keys.
  • Analysis of up to 1.3 million HTTP transactions per second.

“When Raja and I started ExtraHop in 2007, we did so recognizing the incredible challenges that would come as data center networks scaled up to 10GbE and beyond. Even then, we knew that legacy packet capture tools were ill-equipped to help IT manage the scale, complexity, and dynamism of these networks. We wanted to build a platform that could handle not only 10G, but could scale up with the data center,” said Jesse Rothstein, CEO, ExtraHop. “The EH9100 makes good on our commitment to delivering real-time wire data analytics that keep IT teams ahead of the curve, helping speed the adoption of 10GbE, 40GbE, and beyond by delivering visibility and insight at scale.”
