Information Builders helps healthcare organizations apply data against COVID-19

Analytics provider Information Builders has announced enhancements to its Omni-HealthData solution and new data visualizations and dashboards as part of its expanding COVID-19 Resource Center. The Omni-HealthData dashboard now tracks hospital readmissions and discharges by location, period, conditions, and more, and the Resource Center now includes a predictive model combining data from two neural networks. UCLA machine learning model helps CDC predict the spread of COVID-19

A team at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering has developed a machine learning model to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predict the spread of COVID-19. The model is epidemiology-driven – rather than relying on confirmed cases and fatalities – and is one of only two models in the 13-model hub that uses machine learning. Location data analytics firm Gravy Analytics has created dashboards illustrating how foot traffic is changing for 200 top brands across the U.S. The data can be broken down by state or by major city and businesses can be viewed either by brand or by sector. MIT researchers create new algorithm with hopes of accelerating drug approval process

A team of researchers from MIT have developed a new optimization framework that aims to minimize the loss of life during outbreaks by accelerating drug approvals when doing so would save lives on the balance. The same researchers also released a study that estimated the probabilities of success of clinical trials for vaccines and other therapeutics.
