Elastifile Unveils Managed Service to Deliver Scalable File Storage for Google Cloud Platform

SANTA CLARA, Calif., December 12, 2018 – Elastifile, the pioneer of enterprise-grade, scalable file storage for the public cloud, has announced the introduction of a fully-managed, scalable file storage service for Google Cloud Platform. Leveraging tight integration with Google Cloud infrastructure, Elastifile Cloud File Service makes it easy to deploy, manage, and scale enterprise file storage in the public cloud. Customers can sign up for early access to the new service at https://www.elastifile.com/early-access-gcp.

With an increasing number of organizations seeking to leverage public cloud resources, scalable, cost-effective file storage has emerged as a critical enabler for ubiquitous cloud adoption. To address this emerging need, Elastifile partnered with Google Cloud to deliver a fully-managed, cloud-native file service, complete with a full suite of enterprise NAS features. This new service leverages deep integration with Google Cloud infrastructure and makes file storage on GCP both user-friendly and affordable, thereby eliminating the gap between enterprise storage requirements and cloud capabilities. Leveraging the new file service from Elastifile, Google Cloud users can, for the first time, manage scalable, software-defined NAS infrastructure as easily as they manage other Google-native services…with none of the complexity and cost associated with do-it-yourself storage implementations…and without the scalability and availability limitations of legacy, hardware-dependent storage architectures.

Elastifile Cloud File Service allows users to flexibly select a service class that aligns with their storage budget and performance requirements, with pricing for provisioned capacity as low as $0.10/GB/month. Service classes can later be upgraded or downgraded on-demand, as desired, enabling customers to start small and expand performance or capacity later, as dictated by the demands of their evolving workflows (e.g. as they progress from dev/test to production). The cost of the service is fully integrated into Google Cloud’s pre-existing billing infrastructure, so customers do not need to change their existing payment process.

“The reign of the complex, CapEx-heavy infrastructure solution is ending…enterprises expect to consume on-demand services, just like consumers do,” said Erwan Menard, CEO of Elastifile. “By putting a fully-managed, consumption-based, scalable file service at our customers’ fingertips in Google Cloud, we’re delivering the lightweight experience and cost-efficiency expected in the cloud era.”

To ease enterprise cloud adoption, Elastifile was designed to deliver the feature set, flexibility, and cost-efficiency to support customers at every stage of their cloud journey. Whether starting off with simple cloud backup/archival, bursting to cloud for additional Compute, or executing a wholesale “lift and shift” to cloud, Elastifile’s service allows customers to reap the benefits of cloud integration, at their own pace. In addition, by delivering file storage via standard protocols (e.g. NFS), with no need for OS kernel modifications or client-side software installs, Elastifile provides native compatibility with existing applications and workflows, eliminating the need for costly refactoring projects. As a result, Elastifile Cloud File Service is an efficient solution for supporting enterprise use cases spanning a wide range of industries such as Media & Entertainment, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, and more. Finally, Elastifile’s new service is also well-suited for horizontal use cases such as persistent storage for Kubernetes, data resilience for preemptible cloud VMs, HPC file storage, and scalable NAS for cloud-native services (e.g. SAP on Google Cloud).

“We aim to deliver cloud services to customers with best of breed availability and performance” said Nan Boden, Senior Director, Head of Global Technology Partnerships at Google Cloud. “Through our collaboration with Elastifile, we will enable a scale-out file service that is a fully managed solution and provides a seamless user experience through integrations with our platform, thus enabling new workloads to move to the Cloud.”
