SwiftStack Positioned as a Visionary in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 31, 2018 – SwiftStack, a leader in multi-cloud storage and data management, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage”* for the third consecutive year.

The report, published October 18, 2018, evaluates vendors of scale-out file and object storage products as either Leaders, Visionaries, Challengers, or Niche Players. Visionaries are “typically vendors that are focusing on strong innovation and product differentiation, but are smaller vendors with limited reach or achievement to date, or larger vendors with innovation programs that are still unproven. A vendor in the Visionaries quadrant delivers innovative products that address operationally or financially important end-user problems on a broad scale, but has not demonstrated the ability to capture market share or sustainable profitability.” SwiftStack also improved on “completeness of vision” since last year’s report.

“We appreciate Gartner recognizing us as a Visionary alongside NetApp, Red Hat, and Pure Storage, and this challenges us to continue to bring that spirit of innovation to the market, as we develop new technologies for our current and future customers,” said Don Jaworski, SwiftStack CEO. "We pride ourselves in giving users compelling features for managing data across both on-premise and public clouds in one platform.”

SwiftStack is a software-defined distributed data storage and management system that leverages on-premises and public cloud infrastructure. It can be easily deployed and scaled by adding standard server hardware on premises and accounts in Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform. Applications and users are given universal access (file and object) to a single data namespace, and data is placed across the system by user-defined policies. Any amount of metadata can be added and indexed in the system, allowing for full awareness and utilization of valuable business assets.
