Bright Computing Announces Partnership with Japanese Firm Towa Electric

AMSTERDAM, Sept. 11, 2018 -- Today, Bright Computing, a global leader in cluster and cloud infrastructure automation software, announced that it has signed a reseller agreement with Japan-based Towa Electric.

Headquartered in Sendai city and with offices in Tokyo and Osaka, Towa Electric has been operating since 1978, offering a broad range of products including workstations and servers, high-speed interconnects, storage systems, and HPC Solutions. Towa Electric's subsidiary, GDEP Advance, is largely focused on NVIDIA GPU-related products including DGX-1, and DGX Station, and is the sole Japanese systems integration partner for DGX-2. GDEP Advance's DeepLearning BOX and DeepLearning Station are the best-selling deep learning computer systems in Japan.

Towa Electric has chosen to partner with Bright Computing for two reasons: Firstly, to harness the power of Bright Cluster Manager to offer ease-of-use and ease-of-management to its end users, and secondly to bring ease-of-system-integration to both Towa and GDEP. Bright Cluster Manager for Data Science will also add value to GDEP's deep learning solutions. Finally, for larger scale clustering and cloud bursting capabilities, Towa and GDEP plan to utlitize Bright Open Stack in its customers' data centers.

The team at Towa Electric is particularly impressed with Bright Computing's single pane of glass style interface, and the ability to manage HPC, big data, and deep learning from a central point of control, which they believe will further strengthen their credibility in the Japanese HPC market.

Tadamichi Iino, CEO at Towa Electric and GDEP Advance, commented; “Towa Electric Inc. is a HPC Datacenter Strategic Partner of Intel Corporation. It has been providing HPC systems and solutions to R&D facilities of prominent universities and companies from all over Japan.  A group company GDEP Advance Inc. is an Elite Partner of NVIDIA Corporation, and has been providing high-end GPU systems mainly focusing on AI training purposes. With this new partnership with Bright Computing, we are very confident that we will be able to accelerate providing more benefit to the customers by utilizing Bright Cluster Manager as the key clustering solution for our wide range of high performance hardware products.”

Clemens Engler, Director Business Development at Bright Computing, added; “Towa Electric offers compelling solutions for the HPC and deep learning markets in Japan, and we are delighted that they have signed a partnership agreement with us, to install Bright technology into customer data centers across the region. Together, we look forward to pushing the boundaries of the HPC and deep learning industry in Japan, by deploying industry-leading solutions that will underpin groundbreaking scientific and industrial computations.”
