New Roadmap Promises to Grow Jobs and Manufacturing Opportunities in Massachusetts

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick announces Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative at Advanced Manufacturing Partnership regional meeting

Deval Patrick, Governor of Massachusetts, announced the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative at the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership regional meeting at MIT this week.

This roadmap, aimed to promote innovation, workforce development, access to capital and technical assistance, was developed by the Advanced Manufacturing Initiative steering committee in May, 2010.

With 260,000 people employed by the manufacturing industry in Massachusetts, this collaborative pairs nicely with the work Patrick’s administration has already been doing in the state, including the BuyMass.org program to promote in-state contracting by large companies.

“Advanced manufacturing is vital to growing the Massachusetts economy and creating good paying jobs,” said Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Greg Bialecki. “The launch of the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative will help accelerate growth in concert with the President’s [AMP] efforts.”
